With a contagious smile and a heart as big as Texas, Sam Craig has been called by God to deliver the gospel through music and mission work. His rich voice, a working spirit and a down to earth Christian lifestyle makes him at home whether singing in front of a large crusade or ministering in a bamboo hut.
Sam and his wife, Sharilyn, have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Sharilyn is completely supportive of Sam's evangelistic ministry and is a great asset to him. She keeps the ministry home-fires burning and helps with mission and senior adult ministries.
Sam's heartfelt desire is to reach people for Christ . This has led him to have a wide range of ministry experience. Since his formal education at East Texas Baptist University, he has led numerous revivals and held concerts all over the U.S. Sam has held over 100 revivals in his hometown of Houston, Texas. He is a recording artist and has hosted a nationwide Christian Television Show. We has directed music for evangelism conferences and crusades across America.
Almost every year since 1978, he has traveled to the San Blas Islands and the jungles of Panama to work with the Kuna Indians. Along with groups of volunteers that he brings to the islands, the people's needs are met through providing boats and motors for travel, fishing nets for catching food, building churches and providing medical and dental help. Spiritual needs are met through pastor's conferences, revivals and the showing of films about Jesus such as "The Passion of the Christ."
Since 1993, Sam and Sharilyn have been led to begin work with the Native American Indians. This ministry has grown from holding revivals and VBS on the Navajo and Jicarillo Apache Reservations to providing over 7000 Christmas gifts (shoeboxes filled with toys and necessities) to them as well as five other states and many other tribes. This is a yearly ministry that we pray will keep on growing.
Other mission ministries include an on-going work in Kurgan, Siberia (Russia) since 1997, and various ministries in Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canada, South Africa, Kenya, Brazil and Australia.
Our EAGLE WING'S CAMP is a ministry to boys and girls at-risk. We are at present hoilding two boy's and two girl's camps each summer. With the help of dedicated workers who love youth, we are able to help these young people find God's purpose in their lives. They come from varied home situations and need encouragement and direction. Praise the Lord, we have answers for them through Jesus our Savior.
Senior adults have always been a passion of Sam and Sharilyn. They have worked with senior adults for over 35 years. They now work in a retreat ministry to senior adults where three retreats are held each year.
Sam and Sharilyn attend Bayshore Baptist Church in LaPorte, Tx. where Dr. Mark Redd is pastor. Sam served as minister of music and missions there from 1990-1995 during which time the church averaged over 100 baptisms per year and over 600 people in Sunday School. Sharilyn worked as the director of the Infant department and was director of the senior adult group (The Silver Saints.) After Sam went back into evangelism, they loved the church so much that they just stayed. The church has provided a true support group for their ministry.
Sam is an ordained minister and has been called upon by the Lord in recent years to not only sing but preach many revivals. He believes that the fields are white unto harvest and that now is the time to win the lost to Christ and to build a legacy for the future. Since being saved in high school, he has committed his life to helping people come to a saving relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Whether he is singing or sharing the gospel one on one, the love of Christ comes through.
