Nicaragua is a new ministry that God has laid on my heart the past couple of years. Many other friends have taken up this mission with me. This August, a group from Annaville Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Tx, and New Life Baptist Church in LaCygne, Ks. went with me to do evangelism and start a new church in Nawas (spelling?) To get to this village we went one hour on paved Highway and then five hours on a rough dirt and rock road. This village is like Texas over 100 years ago with cattle drives and the herding of hogs through the center of town.
God really blessed us as we began a new church there. Last Spring we gave the money to buy the land for the church and while there this time we were able to begin clearing the land. We also bought the needed materials to begin building the church building. One man heard that we were there and walked one and a half hours to “get saved” he said. Praise the Lord! In all, 15 people received Jesus as Savior this trip. Also, Robert Simmons gave a training session for an upcoming crusade we are planning for next Spring.
On April 9-17, 2011 we are planning a 10 church simultaneous evangelistic campaign with a crusade on that last weekend. It will be held in the town of Jegapa and the surrounding area. We will need 3 teams of 10 people to witness during the day. Our budget is $15,000. Please pray for these needs and for the Lord’s leadership if you feel God is calling you to go.

July 16-24: We have just a small group going to Panama this week. Sam, Raymond Minks, Kathy Cramer, Pearl Thorpe, Stephanie Allen and Pennie Langston will be working in the clinics and doing personal witnessing on the San Blas Islands of Panama. It is the first time going for Stephanie and Ray. Please pray for them, it is not an easy trip and they will be going to some new territory that has not been reached before.
The Lord truly blessed our trip. The ladies helped the people, especially the children and babies, medically. They have tremendous rashes and sores that need immediate attention. We bring medications which we teach them how to apply and leave with them. It is so great to see how much their conditions have improved even in the short week we are there. Also, we went “hut to hut” sharing the Gospel. This was out of the comfort zone and a great experience for some who had never done this before. Ray was tremendous with the kids and never failed to have a least a few of them hanging off him at all times.
We went to a village where I had shown the “Jesus” movie many years ago. Joining us there was about 15 Kuna pastors who held a revival. Their wives also met with the women for Bible study. They are also planning to begin a church in this village. It has taken a long time but it thrilled my heart to see these people progress and grow to this point in their ministry of evangelism.
While witnessing to one man about the Lord, his son heard what we were saying and also accepted the Lord. A further blessing was that the son’s wife is Kuna but is from Colombia where we as missionaries cannot go because of the danger there. However, we gave her 20 Kuna Bibles and she can take them to the people there. We are now praying for a team of Kuna Indians to go and witness there.
On our next trip we would like to take some dentists and their equipment to continue helping the people with the tremendous problems they have with their teeth. I have even been a  “dental assistant” and seen the pain these people can endure.  Also, we would like to set up a feeding center to help the children. Some of the ladies who went have already begun to help raise funds for this purpose. They all got bit by the “mission bug.” Please pray for these needs and for our work in Panama and on the San Blas Islands.

Camps are in full swing at Cripple Creek Ranch in Medina, Tx. We already had a full camp for boys and one for girls. A total of 8 young people gave their hearts to Jesus during these two weeks. Praise the Lord! Another girls camp is coming up on June 27-July 3. Boy’s camp will be held July 5-10. Sorry, but at this time, both camps are full. However, if you want to get on the waiting list, contact us at 713-957-8069. Please pray for these camps, the kids, the counselors and all that are involved. We want to show God’s love and His ways to these young people to prepare them to live for Him in this world. Hopefully, there will come a time when we can have camps going all summer long. We are working on it.   For further info and camp forms, directions to camp, etc. see ministries/Eagle’s Wings camp.
Camp time is over and it was tremendous. All camps were full and many young people gave their hearts to Jesus and others grew closer to Him. The kids really learned teamwork and how to rough it. It rained several days and the boys had to sleep on the floor of the garage as the tipis got all wet. They didn’t mind though. All are ready to come back next year. We had 115 young people to attend camp this year and as many volunteers, cooks, counselors, etc. A special thank you to Curtis James who is a tremendous help to Sam as pastor of boy’s camp and to Mary Mize Hellums who directs our girl’s camps. Thanks and God’s blessings to each one of you. Without your help camp could not happen.

Sam just left this morning with about 30 young people and their youth leader, Ben Rosenberger, from Bayshore Baptist Church. They are headed to the Jicarillo Apache Indian Reservation in Dulce, New Mexico for a week of vacation Bible School and Revival. They will also paint the church buildings and do some other work as well as witnessing. Please pray for them as it is a long trip and it is the first mission trip for many of them.
Well, they’re back and well. It was a great learning experience for all and a great time. Working in a new culture is never easy and it takes time but showing God’s love to these people will never be forgotten. The kids and counselors were hard workers and the church there in Dulce looks a lot better with a new coat of paint. Lives were touched and hopefully these new missionaries will be ready to take on new challenges next year using what they learned from this experience.
